The 3600 Series is Philips' entry level line of high definition LCD televisions introduced in 2008 that feature a native 1080p resolution. This series competes with entry level offerings from other manufacturers and contains a similar set of specifications.

Two distinguishing features are the USB port for audio/photo playback, and HDMI-CEC support which are usually found on more expensive lines. This line is a step up over the 3400 series which has a 720p native resolution. The step up line is the 5400 and 5600 series which feature the next generation Pixel Plus 3 processing engine among other improvements.

Pixel Plus HD - this is the marketing name given to Philips' picture processing capability. The HD indicates the system can handle processing high-definition footage and was previously found in the high-end Philips televisions. While these entry level models use the Pixel Plus HD, the new high-end TVs now use the Pixel Plus 3 engine which is a further improvement.

The naming convention of the 3600 series is: Philips xxPFL3603D/27 where xx are replaced by the display size
