Philips 40PFL3706/F7

The Philips 40PFL3706/F7 is an entry-level 40" LCD HDTV similar to the 31.5" Philips 32PFL3506/F7. Aside from screen size difference, the two models differ only in a few key areas: resolution (the 40PFL3706/F7 is 1080p rather than 720p), image engine (the 40PFL3706/F7 sports Pixel Plus HD technology rather than Digital Crystal Clear technology) and a USB port with media playback capability.

Otherwise, the two HDTVs sport similar features, including Energy Star certification, VGA connectivity and three HDMI ports.

The 40PFL3706/F7's Pixel Plus HD technology is meant to automatically enhance digital signals for an overall more vivid, lifelike picture. Its USB port allows the 40PFL3706/F7 to playback any MP3 music files or view JPEG image files directly from a USB flash storage device. Meanwhile, the 40PFL3706/F7's VGA port allows it to be used as a computer monitor with any computer while PC's with newer graphics cards can connect via HDMI.
