The Cons:Not 120 Hz - look to 6 Series for that feature. Doesn't use the "Clear View" panel as the higher end 6 and 7 Series Samsungs.
The 5 series of LCD televisions are part of Samsung's 2008 line of sets and are their entry level offering for 1080p native resolution. More information found on the Samsung 5 Series report. This TV has an MSRP of $1299.99, but can be found for less than $800 as of late 2008.

#samsung_ln40a550 They've got this TV at Futureshop in Canada for $799 for a Boxing Day sale. They list the model number as LN40A500, but I believe it's the same as the 550. Can anyone confirm this?
