The D64U Series is Sharp's least expensive line of LCD televisions that offer a 1080p native resolution. The larger sized models in this line were released late 2007 with the smaller 32" and 37" models introduced in early 2008.

This line is located above the D44U series with their 720p resolution, and comes under the D74U series which adds an ethernet port for Internet content and web help. One of the ways that Sharp attempts to distinguish the D64Us from other sets in this range is through a thinner cabinet design, with the new 2008 models reducing thickness by a further 25%.

Sharp, along with Samsung are one of the only manufacturers to make their own panels. Sharp's panels are known for producing duller colors than the Samsung, but offer better viewing angles with little discoloration.
Models
The naming convention of the AQUOS D64U series is: Sharp AQUOS LC-xxD64U where xx refers to the size of the model.
Note about 2:2 pulldown in some D64U series models. Some 42", 46", and 52" models of this television can perform a true conversion of film content using frame duplication that doesn't distort the film's original image. The models that must be looked for have a specific serial number and firmware.
The serial number starts with the letter C or above (D, E, etc).
Firmware version must start with an S, older firmwares start with a U. Older models cannot be upgraded since the film-multiplier is a hardware change.
