Sharp LC-47SB57UT

$830.00 Released January, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Excellent overall value at the price point - picture and sound quality in addition to connectivity options are virtually unparalleled at the sub-$1000 price point. 120Hz image processing helps to significantly reduce lag/blur issues amongst fast-paced content - ideal for users playing a lot of video games or watching a lot of action movies. Performs similarly, if not better than higher-priced competitors from Vizio and Panasonic - ideal for users on a budget who want a reliable big-screen TV.

The Cons:Black levels are fairly poor - excessively dark content (movies, video games) tends to appear washed out and inconsistent. Several users report total unit malfunction within mere weeks of use - TV will produce a loud "pop" before experiencing various picture issues and ultimately shutting down. Built-in speakers are very disappointing - sound is muddled and quiet, with minimal separation amongst frequencies and insufficient volume handling for an average-sized entertainment space.

External connectivity ports are poorly placed - many jacks coincide with the TV's rear mounting bracket, making it virtually impossible to wall-mount the TV if external devices are to be connected
