Vizio continues to raise the bar for affordable HDTV with the introduction of the 37" VX37L LCD HDTV, the successor to their L37. The VX37L is priced at $899, around half the price of an equivalent Sony product.

Product Shot 2 It supports HD content up to 1080i and includes a built-in NTSC / ATSC/ QAM HDTV tuner to play local over-the-air (OTA) and unscrambled cable (both digital and analog) content.

The Vizio VX37L includes an array of standard inputs found on most TVs in its class: component (x2), HDMI (x2), RGB (computer VGA), S-Video, RCA Audio, SPDIF digital optical audio, and composite (x2). Vizio claims the following specifications:

  • 170° viewing angle (horizontal and vertical)
  • 500 cd/m2 brightness
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio
  • 8 ms response time
  • 50,000 hour lamp life (22 years)

Other features include Picture-In-Picture (PIP), Picture-Outside-Picture (POP), a removable base, and the ability to be wall-mounted with or without speakers. The set weighs approximately 42 lbs with the stand. The front of the TV is a combination of grey/silver and black, with the sides of the television a white color.

The Vizio VX37L can be found at your local Costco, Sam's Club, or BJ's store.

wil: #vizio_vx37l Know how jimb1234 feels. Bought my 20 inch in February, it died in July. Got a big runaround from vizio, at first they denied any product warranty, then they gave me an rma number and now they once again deny any warranty after I paid to ship the thing in for repairs. Suggest buyer be very very aware. Aug 15, 08

jimb1234: #vizio_vx37l Purchased Vizio 32 TV on August 6, 2006 - it died on August 10, 2007. I called the Vizio support desk - their answer was "its past the one year warranty - too bad - $749 at Sams Club for 1 year and i week TV - that's not a reasonable price - did not know Vizio then but thought it was safe purchase at Sams Club - wish that I had bought another brand Sep 25, 07

They feature this TV in their commercial. I think it's effective; HD flat panels made affordable:
