Westinghouse LVM-42w2
$2,099.00
The Pros:Great Value (Money-to-Quality ratio). Very Bright at highest settings. Easily navigable menu.
The Cons:Contrast ratio (1000:1) is very noticeable in very dark movie scenes. Built specifically as a monitor -- no HD tuner built in. No tuner at all actually (not that it matters if you're running cable/satellite/DVD/Blu-ray). Only 1 HDMI port. This was probably the norm when it was built, but now it seems lacking.
The new Westinghouse LVM-42W2 Digital 42" 1080p Monitor was designed to match the way you view high-definition. Its 1920 x 1080 resolution display with over 2 million pixels deliver a viewing experience that's almost like being there.

60Hz. This is still the norm, but now that they have 120Hz and 240Hz, it requires an upgrade.

Ex-Geeksquad:
#westinghouse_lvm_42w2 I've had this monitor since September, 2006, and it's never had a problem. I got it for a good deal when I still worked at Best Buy for around $1300 (including service plan), which at that time was about $300 less for comparable products.
The brand threw me for a loop -- I always thought of Westinghouse as a light bulb and toaster maker, but since the name was bought out and tacked onto LCD's, they seem to have done the name proud.
Bottom-line: It's been a great monitor to have, and my friends are still jealous of this monster sitting in front of my keyboard.
